DC Claims Rucka for 3 Years By Beth Hannan Rimmels DC Comics has signed novelist Greg Rucka (Queen & Country, Gotham Central, Wonder Woman, Wolverine) to a three-year exclusive agreement. "Looking at my work, the lion's share has been with DC characters," said Rucka. "They're the ones that speak to me most clearly and that engage my passion. The luxury of an exclusive is that the commitment runs both ways -- I can give my best effort to books like Wonder Woman and Gotham Central, and DC knows I'm in it for the long term. It's the best decision I can make...and I'm very excited at the opportunities that will come from it." "Greg brings a unique voice and attitude that will be an integral part of DC's success in the coming years," said Dan DiDio, DC's vice president of editorial. "As both a novelist and a comics writer, his work has been critically acclaimed and very popular, and we look forward to him becoming one of the keys to DC's future." While no official announcement was made, it's safe to assume that Rucka's Queen & Country will continue at Oni Press since such prior agreements are usually exempt in exclusive deals such as this. |
