Shankman to Pilot Live Jetsons

Adam Shankman (Bringing Down the House) is negotiating to direct Warner Bros. Pictures' live-action feature film version of The Jetsons, based on the 1960s Hanna-Barbera cartoon series. A new writer is expected to come aboard to work with Shankman on the latest draft of the script. Denise Di Novi is producing the feature along with the Hanna-Barbera company. The 21st century-set cartoon focused on middle-class family led by George Jetson, his wife Jane and children Judy and Elroy. The household also included robot maid Rosie and Astro the dog. The cartoon featured all manner of high-tech conveniences, including an apartment building on hydraulic lifts that raised and lowered to steer clear of bad weather. George commuted in an atomic-powered bubble car to his job at Spacely Sprockets.
