Bring Back 'Nuff Said

By Beth Hannan Rimmels

Jim Freund, host of the science fiction show Hour of the  Wolf (http://www.hourwolf.com) asked his listeners to tell Bernard White, WBAI-FM Program Director, to bring back 'Nuff Said! so there would be a weekly interview show about comics. 'Nuff Said aired weekly for nine years on WBAI-FM and was live-streamed over the internet for the past several years. Host Ken Gale, who was an unpaid volunteer, interviewed creators from all aspects and all eras of the comic book medium to showcase the diversity of the art form. As a listener-supported station, fans are supposed to have even more clout than usual in determining programming.

White has always maintained that 'Nuff Said was only on hiatus, not cancelled, but in the meantime Gale has done a number of specials and guest appearances on other WBAI programs as the topics allowed. With the recent upgrade to the WBAI Web site which will have archives of all shows available for seven days (in addition to 'Nuff Said's own site at http://www.comicbookradioshow.com/nsgl16.html for a list), now would be an especially good time to contact the station and ask for the return of 'Nuff Said.

Requests for 'Nuff Said can be sent to Bernard White, Program Director, WBAI-FM, 120 Wall St, 10th flr, New York, NY 10005 or call 212-209-2800 or email burnardwhite@aol.com (that's not a typo). Snail mail letters have the most impact.

In the past White has said that comic books are that they are "narrow-focused" and only appeal to "middle-class white males." Considering the broad support for films like Daredevil and X2, not to mention Men in Black, it appears White is operating under a misconception. Prove it to him and help bring the comic book field a little of the media attention it deserves.
