Knightley Wins Guinevere Role

Keira Knightley (Bend It Like Beckham) will play Guinevere in King Arthur opposite Clive Owen for director Antoine Fuqua. This version, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and the Walt Disney Company takes a more historical and realistic approach to the story of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Production begins next month in Dublin, Ireland, and focuses on the history and politics of the post-Roman period that Arthur ruled rather than the mystical elements emphasized in The Mists of Avalon, Excalibur and other versions.
