Questor Rediscovered

By Beth Hannan Rimmels

Herbert Wright, a former writer for Star Trek: The Next Generation, has obtained the rights to Trek creator Gene Roddenberry's proposed Questor TV series. The project about an android living among and helping humans was made into a 1974 TV movie that starred Robert Foxworth as Questor and Mike Farrell as scientist Jerry Robinson, who helps Questor escape government officials, but the proposed follow-up series never emerged. Wright won the rights from the Roddenberry family and will reconceptualize and contemporize the project based on Roddenberry's original notes and the original pilot script written by Roddenberry and the late Gene L. Coon, who was also instrumental in the creation of the original Star Trek TV series. Wright is considering a possible fall production start even though no distribution agreement has been made. Wright is also seeking Questor-related materials from fans, such as unproduced scripts or story outlines.
