Travolta Takes on The Punisher

John Travolta has joined the growing list of major stars taking on roles in comic book-based films now that he has signed on to play the villain opposite Thomas Jane in the film version of The Punisher for director Jonathan Hensleigh, Artisan Pictures and Marvel Studios. Travolta, a two-time Oscar nominee, will play Howard Saint, a man with a violent origin and connections to the criminal underworld but who appears to be a paragon of society until is dark side emerges after his son's brutal death. The Punisher is one of Marvel Comics' most popular anti-heroes. Frank Castle became the vigilante The Punisher after his wife and children are killed by the mob, causing Castle to dispense his own version of justice
