Turtles Coming Out of Their Shell After a strategic retreat a couple years ago, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are planning a comeback with a $40-$60 million CGI feature film from Peter Laird's Mirage Studios and Digital Rim Entertainment. John Woo and Terence Chang of Digital Rim will produce. Laird created the Turtles with partner Kevin Eastman and Laird currently owns the rights to the characters. A new animated Saturday morning television series, a live-action miniseries for the Hallmark Channel and a series of next-generation video games are also on the drawing board. "Back in the mid-'90s, when the Turtles were at their peak, the decision was made to stop trying the same old stuff and wait a while to bring something new to the table," Frederick Fierst, managing partner at the law firm Fierst & Pucci, who has been negotiating Turtles deals on behalf of the Mirage Group, told Variety. |
